Hello, I'm working on a Joomla 2.5.2 site on a live server behind htaccess. I've installed Akeeba backup and have backed up the site. I've FTP'd the backup jpa file in binary mode to my local Mac, and I've tried to restore the site to localhost. I had previously set up a Joomla 1.7 site on localhost, so I know that I have everything required to run a Joomla site on localhost. All directories and files from the restore appear to be in their proper directory structure on my local drive, and I've triple-checked my path to the joomla restore on localhost. Apache has been started and is confirmed running; status of mySQL, PHP, Perl, CGI, and SSI are all activated, but when I go to the Joomla localhost URL, I get this error message:

Object not found! The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
Error 404

Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l PHP/5.3.1 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1

Can you please direct me to a tutorial or give me some direction on how I can troubleshoot this problem to get the restore working on localhost?

Thanks!
Enrico

Hi
Did you use "Kickstart" to unpack the backup?

Hi Mark, Akeeba documentation doesn't make clear that Kickstart is an ini file and as such won't work on Mac OS X (I'm on 10.6). Per Akeeba's instructions, I used the Akeeba Extract Wizard to unpack the jpa backup. The wizard did not report any errors or warnings. Thanks, Enrico

Hi Enrico,

Did you get this matter resolved? Wasn't quite sure with your last post. :-)
Warm Regards,

Hi Enrico,

Kickstart is a php file, so it will work in Os X.

Try using the following tutorial to move a Joomla site from server to server:

Kind regards,
Nick
