TOPIC: K2 frontend user publisher permissions

K2 frontend user publisher permissions 1 year 3 days ago #46656

Hi,

I'm having a problem with K2. I enabled the k2 Login, User & Users in modules and assigned it a page. I created and assigned the user Registered access, plus enabled the user's the ability to edit. It is showing the "edit" button for K2 users to edit, however, i can't edit media/k2/items on the frontend. Instead, the popup box shows two links, neither of which takes me to the page I'm trying to edit. Can you help me?

Hi D,

What Joomla version and K2 version are you using? Could you provide a link or upload a screenshot of the issue?

Kind regards,
Nick

it's a little more confusing than that, I sent an email with password. It seems like when I click on the frontpage slider (any of those images) it forwards to the links, and although the edit button is visible, it won't let you actually edit.. thx much ....d

Hi Tessa, I've already sent an email with password to nick, since this requires a frontend login to show how the K2 can not be edited. Do you have an email, or do I just wait for Nick? thx..d.

Hi Mediamonger,

Just FYI, I'm looking into this now. I'll be back to you when I get it untangled.

Did you turn off front page editing? I don't see any way to edit from the front end. Or am i just going blind?

Please let me know.

Thanks
Ed

That's what I'm saying, I can't edit it on the front end. I can edit frontend for all of the articles, no problem, just not K2... no i didn't turn anything off...

Hi media monger,

I've logged into your site, and I've set up my own test site and installed K2. It works fine for me, and I used the same settings you have on your site. So everything is set up properly. You can tun off front end editing in the K2 configuration, but I see that you have it on.

There are obviously three potential sources for the problem since the set up is correct, Joomla, K2 or the template.

Can you try switching the template and see if it shows in a default template? You're template may not be fully K2 ready. That would tell us if you should contact the template company.

You can also try reinstalling k2, in case something happened with the K2 install. If you haven't done any modifications to Joomla, you can also use Akeeba Admin tools to reinstall Joomla.

Right now I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be working.

I can't believe I can't get the template maker to help me out on this issue any faster than answering my questions like once every two weeks. I am developer status with this company. It's bizarre that I'm still grappling with this problem and will never patronize them again.

Can someone here help me with my continuing K2 problem. It seems that when I click through on the reader in on the front page, it keeps bringing me back to the popup, which won't allow me to edit except for the "What's New" category. In fact, it seems that anything I click on, the adv1 slider or the youretro reader only allows me to edit within the "about us" page. It doesn't make sense. I've updated the K2, I've tried to go with no editor to see if JCE was crashing my K2. Nothing...I'm beside myself at this point! Again, I'm trying to simply allow my client K2 Frontend editing. (I just now noticed that all of the K2 items are locked -- although that is something new)

Obviously, I'm desperate. Thanks for whatever help! PS: I'm resending the email to nick@os with my user and password.. :) d.

Hi D,

You didn't include a link to the site again :)

Also, would you please use the following site to record a video of the issue so that we can see things from your perspective? www.screenr.com/

Thanks!

Kind regards,
Nick

This screenr.com site is pretty handy, so here 'tis:

I'll email you back on this one, but as you can see, all pages in home and About Us in frontend editor leads back to that page, "Best Programs & Fund with B&G Club under the "What's New: category. That page is the only page that I'm able to publish using frontend editor. thx..d.

Hi D,

Do this. Make a backup, then update to the latest 2.5.5 (released today). Then go to Components >> K2 >> Users >> edit your Super User >> K2 user group >> set it to Site Owner >> Save >> give the editing another try.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick
