Hi,

Using you tutorial I am trying to upgrade drom 1.5.26 tot Joomla 2.5. I installed jUpgrade and clicked on the start button. JUpgrade starts checking and cleaning. But that is all it did for more then 2 hours. Then I tried it again (after skipping the template copy part): same result.
What can I do?
PS I do it at a local environment.

Regards, Maurice

Hi Maurice,

It's mostly like that CURL isn't enabled on your localhost. What localhost server are you using? If you're using WAMP, left click on the WAMP icon (bottom right) >> PHP >> php.ini >> search for "curl" >> remove the semi-colon before:
extension=php_curl.dll

Try it again at that point.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I've done that. JUpgrade is cleaning and checking now for about 30 minutes. How many minutes should take this step normally?
If 30 minutes is already too long, what can I do now?

Thanks, Maurice

Hi Maurice,

That's pretty common with Jupgrade. I have had that happen several times. Usually you have to try it couple of times. Sometimes I uninstall and reinstall jupgrade and it starts working.

Unless your site is a mammoth, it shouldn't take that long.

Cheers,
Ed

I've been trying it over and over again. Also uninstall and reinstall several times. But untill so far nothing seems to work. And it is only a small website.
Any other suggestions?

Have you tried changing the jupgrade configuration. This was written before the newest version, but it shows you where to look for configuration set up.

www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/jupgrade-problems/

You might have to try some different combinations in the configuration.

An alternate that works very well is SPupgrade. Very good technical support from them.

See if this helps.

Cheers,
Ed

Hi Maurice,

Did you restart the WAMP server after making the change? If so and if still doesn't work, then download the latest 2.5.4 version and unzip it in your jupgrade folder. Then in the preferences of the jUpgrade component, skip download, checking, and decompress. Then run it again.

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks Ed and Nick.
The problem appeared to be restarting WAMP.
The next thing is, that the process stops after downloading Joomla 2.5. I can see it is compeltely downloaded, but nothing happens anymore.
Should I go to the parameters and skip 'decompress' (put it to yes)?

Hi Maurice,

You're welcome! Glad you got it sorted!

Only skip decompress if the file has download and decompressed into the jUpgrade folder. Otherwise, just skip downloading.

Nick

I love it when it works. Of course, the converse is equally true :)
