I am trying to install Jooomla 2.5 on one of my sites using JUpgrade but have been stuck on the Checking and cleaning process for more than 30 minutes. I haven't had this happen on any other of my sites. How can I fix this issue?

Hi Cheryl,

1) Either check with your host and make sure CURL is enabled on the server
or
2) Manually download and extract Joomla 2.5.4 within the jupgrade folder then in jUpgrade's options skip the download and extracting.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Nick,

Do you mean upload the JUpgrade and extract within cPanel? If so, I just did this and followed your suggestions, but I'm still stuck on the Checking and cleaning phase.

Hi Cheryl,

No, upload the full package of Joomla 2.5.4 to the jupgrade folder.

Also, did you enable the skipping option within jUpgrade's parameters?

Nick

OK guys, just followed all of the steps. STILL stuck on the same page. I clicked 'no' for the decompress and 'install' within the JUpgrade options section. Do I need to delete the zip file once the Joomla 2.5 package has been unzipped?

No, you don't need to do that. I wrote this a while back.

www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/jupgrade-problems/

They've made some improvements since then, but it may help. Notice that you can change the target directory name so you can try another install in another directory and see if it works better. Go through all the set up parameters carefully.

Thanks Cheryl! I think the login issue was my fault actually. I misread your email.

OK, I'm not seeing a jupgrade folder within your site. For example, www.wjyouthpower.com/jupgrade returns a 404 error.

Did you by chance put it in one of your other accounts?

Kind regards,
Nick

No. I tried to delete it and reinstall it. Could that be the problem?

Weird, I see it in the Joomla Admin component area. See the pic attached.

I do notice one thing different in cPanel though. Isn't the JUpgrade folder supposed to be in my site's root section?

I can only see it if I go to the components folder. Could this be the problem?

Hi Cheryl,

Yes, that's what I mean. You need a "jupgrade" folder within your public_html directory (within use cpanel). Then manually download and extract Joomla 2.5.4 within this "jupgrade" folder (within use cpanel), then in the jUpgrade component's options skip the download and extracting (within the Joomla admin).

Also, when you go to your admin area >> Components, that's not a folder but rather just a menu item within your administrator.

Hope this helps! :)

Kind regards,
Nick

Yes, that was a bit clearer! LOL

However, I'm still stuck on that page, but I see the jupgrade folder in my browser: www.wjyouthpower.com/jupgrade/installation/index.php

Hi Cheryl,

OK, now use the "Skip checks" option in jUpgrade and you should be set.

Hi Cheryl,

Try recreating the home menu item or checking your SEF settings in your global configuration and your .htaccess file.

Nick
