TOPIC: JomSocial and Moderation

JomSocial and Moderation 11 months 2 weeks ago #50610

Hello,

I am looking at using JomSocial for my Joomla 2.5 site. Once I have built up my online community, I will need to be able to moderate the site.

Does JomSocial (or extensions) provide moderation tools?

Many thanks.

Joyce.

Hi Joyce,

Yes, moderation is built into JomSocial.

By the way, we have a JomSocial 2.5 class available to you :) Check it out at the following link:

Kind regards,

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your response. I have just had a quick look at the tutorial for JomSocial - I am sure this will help me immensely.

How does the moderation work with JomSocial? Do you have something that explains how it works?

Many thanks,

Joyce

Hi Joyce,

We haven't written anything on moderation. The only documentation on it is on the Jomsocial site. Check the Adminsitrator guide section on this page.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the link. I have looked at the documentation and seen that it provides information on how to administer the site with regards to videos, groups, events and photo gallery. So, I can see that this information will be useful for me as an administrator in terms of helping my online community with aspects relating to videos, groups, events and the photo gallery. However,I am also wondering about how to moderate an online community in terms of policing the forums (e.g. I am planning on having an opinions section where people can debate issues / topics). Does JomSocial provide any assistance on this or does OSTraining have a tutorial (if not could you write one)?

Many thanks,

Joyce.

Hi Joyce,

We don't have any tutorials on moderation, however, yes, we could write one for you. Although, it's pretty simple so I'm not sure that one is needed.

All you have to do is configure the settings as you'd like them within the configuration tab. Then you can monitor the activities in the activities tab and delete any that you don't like. You can also monitor the reportings (which are reported by your users) and keep track of things that way.

Is that similar to what you were looking for?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, some guidance would be good - maybe in the form
of tips from experience of moderating forum using JomSocial.
I am new to web design, Joomla and being a moderator for an online community
so every little bit of help counts.

Many thanks.

Joyce
