I have been trying to problem solve with host re: this message on all browsers or a version of it:
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
Screen shot will show backend error after removing plugins that were installed yesterday that were suspect.
Please advise, backend open and I am not doing another thing until suggestions from you.
Thanks for any/all help

What the message is telling you is that the server is getting a message to go to page B and Page B is telling it to go back to page A. So you are caught in an endless loop.

Another cause for this error is allowing cookies. If you don't allow the website you're accessing to set cookies, it may become confused and send you in a redirect loop. To see if this is your problem, Here's how to unblock cookies support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Websites%20...okies%20are%20blocke

Also check your .htaccess file for redirections and see if there is a problem there. If you've made changes to it, try replacing with a generic one from another site, or just rename it temporarily and see if the redirection goes away.

Let us know if this helps or the problem persists.

Hi Mikalynn,

What Joomla version are you using? Also, is the error in every page or only AkeebaBackup?

Have you experienced this issue before? Could you contact your host and ask them to restart mySQL? It appears as though it may be a temporary hosting issue.

Kind regards,
Nick

error gone in other views, generic htaccess does not change the redirect issue.
Could it be the way I saved some article? I have no clue???

Hi Mikalynn,

What specific 2.5 version are you using? 2.5.what?

Please try navigating to the other pages after copying the error message and pasting it somewhere for reference later.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Mikalynn,

No, it's not usual. Have you made any changes to the configuration.php file or .htaccess file recently? Also, have you contacted your host to see if they are having any issues?

Kind regards,
Nick

AM chatting with host now, I do not do code, have not over written config files or htaccess. Have tried some plug-ins and that may have done something....asking host to restart MySQL now, I will try anything, they cannot access the http either. Have you tried?
can I send the config file for you to look at? I would not have a clue.
Everything else loads except this particular subfolder joomla load. Host of all other domains good for all other sites, folders except this one.

From hosting support..............
Regarding the issue at URL www.clesdenoch.org/cles , looks like redirecting code is causing the issue. As we are hosting providers we do not provide support for custom scripting. Thus, I request you to check the code form your end.

If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

Mika
This will be th final post of this issue see service ticket explaination....Thank you for all your help...Mika

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Support.

I have checked your issue and noticed that the plugins were causing the issue. Currently I have disabled all the plugins and now the site www.clesdenoch.org/cles/ is loading fine without any issues. Please clear the browser cache and check this from your end. If the issue still persists, please get back to us.
Well I lied............now the login authintication will not let me login to the site since the tech at the hosting diabled all plugins.
Can we enable all critical Joomla default plugins? I have sent the same request to Support Tickey Inquiry. As usual any help welcome....
If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

Sincerely,

OK here is where we are today after a long night...Host support has determined it is a corrupt plugin. They have reset site to where Login authentication is now possible again but frontend not showing because of redirect again (bad plugin). Plug in was probably corrupted by a add on I installed and thought I uninstalled when it did not work the way I wanted. Can you with the specific login info help me find the corrupted plugin (see attachments) from the backend. When all plugins were disabled frontend would load correctly.(done by host support)
Any help appreciated very very much. Thanks Mika

Here is where I think it is, in attach screen shot but have no idea what to do except uninstall. Tried to uninstall JCE, knowing I could reinstall later and got attach #2. Thanks for looking at this.

Hello Mikalynn,

Can we back up a bit so I can get a clear picture of what you're trying to do?

Are you trying to convert this html site www.clesdenoch.org/ to a Joomla site in this directory? www.clesdenoch.org/cles/ ?

Does the new site have all the same content as the old site or are you building something completely different?

Have you already copied or created all the content for the new site, or are you just trying to get a new Joomla installation started?

Let us know.
Cheers,
Ed

No not an exact copy of html, content changed.
No I am not finished with the site.
Template will reflect the background and general layout to be simular (actually very much the same)
Issue at present...plugin corruption causing continual redirects.
I have access to backend, have done some troubleshooting of my own.
Tried to uninstall plugins, errors. Tried to reinstall over existing to pickup files then uninstall, errors.
At this point I am thinking since I have backend access to articles to copy html into notepad of each article, I have logged category/names and items. And do a clean Joomla install with new database, this will put me back many days in the workup.
I have an Akeeba backup but not sure it is without original issue.
Any suggestions?

Hi Mika,

Looks like the issue is with your "System - Language Filter" filter plugin. If you disable that, the site works fine.

Give our "Multi-language Sites in Joomla" tutorial a try for directions on how to set up multi-lingual sites in Joomla:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/multi-lan...-sites-in-joomla-17/

Hope this helps!

It is not a multi lang site, only French frontend. Backend users need En access. Frontend is now showing, Thanks for taking care of that, not sure of other damage that I could have done in trouble shooting. If I have other questions will repost. 'May need a cleanup on isle 5'.
I need to study about language setup....Thank you for the tutorial link.
Mika Great having you there to hand hold...during the stress of it all....

Hi Mika,

OK, you can just leave the "System - Language Filter" filter plugin to disabled. Then go to Extensions >> Language Manager >> set French to the default >> then click the "Installed - Administrator" tab >> set English as the default.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick
