Hi everyone,
In J 2.5, what is your recommendation on how to allow for images in articles to go full size (or larger) in a lighthbox type display?

Cheers,
Gilles

Hi Gilles,

You can create your own lightbox display by the following tutorial:
www.joomlaconvert.com/the-blog/item/2-di...any-joomla-page.html

Or you can install an extension such as this:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/multime...timedia-display/9512

It is a high rated extension that allows you to use lightbox images in an article.

Is that something you were looking for? :-)
Warm Regards,

I would love to use the popup in JCE but have never had much luck with it. just tried again, no go. i followed the instructions here:
www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/tuto...popup?category_id=54

my popup simply appears in a new window.
also, I can't find the image manager and links plugins referred to in the above article don't seem to be there,
Gilles

Hi Gilles,

I don't know about the JCE method. I'll check it out for you. In the meantime check this out www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/automatic...ze-images-in-joomla/

And also look up Mavik Thumbnails in JED. Both of those allow you to use a lightbox to view pictures.

Thanks Ed,
I've seen this tut before. Does it put the larger image in a modal box when the thumb is clicked?

I'll check out Mavick.

Let me know how you make out with JCE.

It has that option. It also integrates with RokBox. Which may be all you need anyway.

As mentioned, I can't get it to work. I'd rather not install RokBox. Wanting to minimize extensions installed.

Can you get the JCE mediabox to work? if so can you tell me how you're doing it please?

Chers,
Gilles

Hi Gilles,

Did you purchase a subscription to JCE? Or are you trying this with the free version?

I don't think they do. They don't work for me. I was looking at the docs and you have to have some things installed. Have you asked on the JCE forum? Can you give me a link to anything you saw that said it would work? I'll read it.

Since I've been on the forum, I've never had a question about this.

Either people don't use it or it doesn't cause problems.

Anyway this is a good opportunity to take the time to figure it out. I am thinking of writing a tutorial about this. Let you know when I have a chance to go through it.

OK Ted, since this could take a while... can you ask Nick the Wizard?

I have a client who needs this functionality at this time.

Thanks,
G

I just tried this on another installation of joomla. It does work fine on that one. It doesn't work on the first one I used.

Just follow the directions JCE gives you and it works as advertised. If it doesn't work, you have a problem with your installation. Try reinstalling JCE. That worked for me.

The free version doesn't have all the functionality of paid version. So if it doesn't do everything you want, the only way to get more out of it is to subscribe.

I got it working Ed!
I thought I'd try removing and and reinstalling as you had done and that did the trick.

Thanks!

I love it when they are that simple. Some times you just have to ask it twice.

Cheers,
