Image Gallery Stripping Code 1 year 1 month ago #43603

Greetings!
I am developing a site to sell beads. See www.thebead.net.

This is a Joomla 2.5.4 site using Phoca Gallery 3.2.0 (the most current version). The paypal buttons in the detail windows for the beads are not working. You can easily see this if you click on a paypal button.

Something is stripping the ACTION attribute out of the form tag,
changing this:
<form target="paypal" action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">

To this:
<form target="paypal" method="post">

If I put a paypal button code in a native Joomla Article, the code remains intact. see example here thebead.net/index.php/testing If you click on that paypal button, it opens a Paypal purchase window just fine.

I installed a completely different image gallery and the same problem occurs.

The developer of Phoca Gallery - Jan - suggests that
it seems like the content area is not causing the problem, so maybe on your site, there is some system plugin which changes the output ???

Any ideas?

I am attaching a PDF of the active plugins on this site in case they raise any flags for you.

Hi Hope,

Are you using a WYSIWYG editor? Does an editor show up in Phoca Gallery?

Please give our "Stop Joomla From Stripping Out Code" tutorial a try:

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Thank you for your speedy response!
Yes, I'm using JCE. I tried using NO EDITOR and the code was still stripped. NO FILTERING is set for Super Users and JCE is set to NOT clean up HTML. I'll look at the tutorial.

You're welcome, Hope!

"NO EDITOR" as in you changed the editor for your user to "No editor" within user manager? Or "NO EDITOR" as in you clicked the "Hide editor" option (top left above the editor) of JCE?

Kind regards,
Nick

Sorry! In Joomla Global Config I chose NO EDITOR in the DEFAULT EDITOR drop down.

Snippet is working! I'm bummed that my client will have to create a snippet every time she adds a new bead and Paypal button, but at least it's working, thank you very much!

Also, I'm looking into sourcerer so that we might skip the snippet step.

Tried that -- sourcerer didn't work. The code was stripped again. But at least we can use snippets for now.

If you have any other thoughts, I'm open. I will look more deeply at the tutorial.

Hi Hope,

An easier solution might be to use a plugin for paypal buttons.

extensions.joomla.org/search?q=paypal

Most of the best ones are commercial, but I found them reasonably priced. I have used Nice PayPal Buttons several times in the past and was quite happy with it. Easy Paypal is another I've used. There are quite a few to choose from.

There are also paypal modules and you can load them into an article using the (loadpostion myposition} method

Sourcer is good. YOu could also try Jumi extensions.joomla.org/search?q=jumi

Keep at it!

Cheers,
Ed

Thank you Ed. I just searched the JED for Paypal extensions and studied them, including the ones you recommended. I will absolutely keep them in mind for future clients. I had no idea there were these kinds of extensions for Paypal!

Unfortunately, this client's Paypal buttons have a combination of drop-down options and custom cart buttons that I don't see supported in a way that feels doable for her. So I'll be creating snippets.

Wait - I will look at Jumi first. I'll let you know about how it works for me.

Thanks again,
Hope

Will do. And, as a follow up, I don't think I'm techie enough to work with Jumi. It gave me a headache! :) But again, I appreciate the suggestion.

Hi Hope,

What you're doing isn't really simple. Keep at it. There are so many ways to get things done. Finding plugins and modules is like finding keys. They're in the last place you thought to look, but they're always there.

cheers,
Ed

Thanks Ed! I just finished the snippets for the first set of beads on the site. So far so good. I so appreciate all of you. Honestly, I'd be a lost and alone Joomla developer here in Santa Fe if it weren't for OSTraining.
