TOPIC: How to disable menu link

How to disable menu link 11 months 1 day ago #49882

Hi,

I want to know how to disable a menu link so that if I hover over I can see the submenus and only the submenu links are active..
Sorry, I used to be able to do this, but have forgotten, or maybe it is different in 2.5?

Thanks
Scott

Hi
If you go to the menu item then select menu type - select "text separator" (it is down at the bottom left of the pop up panel).

Hi Mark,

This is not what i was looking for as it causes the menu link to gray out so I can't read it anymore. I want the link to highlight on hover [as normal] but when clicked, nothing happen [stay on same page]... so viewers will then be be able to navigate down to submenu choices to click. I was certain that I learned how to do this in Joomla class.... but now can't remember how.... Maybe I am remembering wrong?

I am trying to reduce the number of clicks for users and want to force users to click on submenus directly instead of having to click two times [once on first level, go to article, with bunch of submenu links and then click again]

thanks for your help

Regards
Scott

Hi Scott,

I think I understand what you are asking. I'm a big fan of using this idea for parent menu itemsz As Mark suggested, using the text separator menu type accomplishes this.

However, I don't know why it's not working as it should on your site.

Could you provide a link to your site so I can look at the code? Thanks. :-)
Warm Regards,

Hi Tessa, I prefer not to post my test site directory in forum, is there a pm or moderator link where I could send it?

Hi Scott,

You can email me the link to tessafenwick at gmail dot com.

Unfortunately I'll be out the door for a few hours, but later today I will be ready to view your page.

If it is something more complicated I might end up asking for admin access to see what is going on.

PS. Please post on here when you have emailed me with information. I don't check my email often. (Since facebook came around...haha).

Thanks,
Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero
