Hi kuszzarin

Yes, within reason. But there are caveats:

1) Joomla is right for some web projects but not all. There might be better options for lots of functionality.

2) The advantage of using Joomla is that lots of functionality is available easily. A directory is a perfect example of that. However, many projects will still need custom coding.

Hi kuszzarin

Sorry, can you be any more specific? The word "system" is too general for us to really give any accurate advice.

Hi kuszzarin

OK, for that you have two choices.

1) Use a community extension such as Community Builder or Jomsocial. This would be good for more informal memberships and networking.

2) Use a directory extension such as SobiPro for more business-like listings: www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/sobipro-t...ssing-documentation/

As for a custom directory extension, the project I do for my job is creating everything customized.

You can go into the code of the directory extension and build an actual system rather than just show a directory.

This extension is called Fabrik.

It can also be very flexible with working with users since you can connect to any database table and work with it from there. :-)

One of my tables I connect to a specified user table group and make it so only those users can edit that row of data in the directory.

Let me know if you have any questions.

But with the extensions Steve recommended, it would probably work as well and they are a lot more popular to use.

Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero
