HI Mwathani,

First you would need to use the same extension that we use if you want to make your forum like this one. We are using NinjaBoard ninjaforge.com/extensions/ninjaboard

It was set up by Nick, I don't think we did anything to change the way it works, but I will ask him to comment in case there were custom changes made.

Otherwise the directions come with the NinjaBoard Documentation and they have their own tech support. I'll alert Nick and see if he has any comments for you.

Cheers,
Ed

One quick note from me: I love Ninjaboard and it's been great for us at OSTraining, but I'm not very sure about it's long term health. There's not a been a Joomla 2.5 version yet and not many updated for Joomla 1.5.

Kunena is an extension that is much more actively developed.
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

Hi MW,

Yes, Kunena would be your best bet since you can use Joomla 2.5:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/communication/forum/7256

As to Ninjaboard, we've just mostly customized the design of it. Otherwise, it's just the standard installation.

Hope this helps! :)

Kind regards,
Nick

mwathani,

Kunena is a huge project with it's own development community and it's own forums. The best thing you can do is read the documentation and learn the program. Try setting up a test site and experiment. That's the best way to learn it.

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks ED,
while we are still at the seting of the test site, i remember i set up a WAMP on my localhost, I have the back up of my live site saved in a folder on my desk-top, but i am unable to upload it up and make the live site live in my local host.
can you help me in understanding how to go about loading and configaring the back-up file on my desk-top to live test site? i will appreciate.
