Hi sood15,

Strange coincidence that you ask that. I just wrote this tutorial last week.

Let us know if it helps or you have more questions.

Cheers

Hi Edandrea,

Thanks for your reply, I already read that tutorials, But I have little bit confusion. I wants to migrate from joomla 1.5 virtuemart store to joomla 2.5 virtuemart store. So please tell me first I have to migrate virtue mart 1.1.9 in joomla 1.5 to virtuemart 2.0.2 in joomla 1.5 or first I have to migrate Joomla stack from 1.5 to joomla 2.5? if I first migrate joomla 1.5 stack to joomla 2.5, Is my virtuemart store on 1.1.9 works with joomla 2.5?

Thanks

Hi Sood,

The first thing you want to do is upgrade your version of Joomla before upgrading a component.

Before that be sure to make a complete copy of your website/database and test all these upgrades on there, in case a horrible error occurs.

HI sood15,

Tessa is correct, however it should work either way as long as you have upgraded Viretuemart at least to 1.1.9 before you try to upgrade Joomla.

The way I did it was to upgrade to VM 1.1.9, then upgraded Joomla from 1.5 to 2.5, then completed the migration step.

Since VM 2.0 works in both Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5, it shouldn't make any difference if you do the migration first then the Joomla upgrade. I did't try it that way, but there is no reason why it wouldn't work.

Just be sure to use a test installation when you try it. Let us know which way you decide and how it goes. Ask questions if there are any problems.

Cheers
Ed

Hi Ed & Tessa,

First thanks both of you and also all OStraining.com team and members, for posting useful topics in forum.

I first update virtuemart as Ed wrote in his tutorial "Migrate Virtuemart 1.1 to version 2. (thanks Ed for this helpful tutorial). Then I install clean (without sample data) copy of joomla 2.5 and clean installation of virtuemart 2.0.2

From database of (using phpMyAdmin) joomla 2.5 installation with virtuemart 2.0.2, I drop virtuemart tables and from database of old installation in joomla 1.5 with virtuemart 2.0.2, I just export virtuemart tables, and import that table in joomla2.5 clean installation database ( but make sure change the old table prefix to match with joomla 2.5 clean installation database table prefix) and then copy virtuemart 'shop_image, folder content in joomla 1.5 with virtuemart 2.0.2 ( Path:- components/com_virtuemart/shop_image) to 'images/stories/virtuemart' (create new folder with name virtuemart) in clean joomla 2.5 with virtuemart 2.0.2 installation. Then just assign write module position in new joomla2.5 theme and all done.

Thanks once again all OSTraining Team and members.

Hi sood15,

That was an excellent way to make the migration. You are very clever to have figured that out on your own. Nice job.

Thanks, too, for sharing that with everyone on the forum. Keep up the good work!

Cheers

Hi Ed,

Thanks for your feedback. But I don't want to take all the credits myself. I know that way but I've some doubts regarding this. My Bose knows it very well, So he helps me to make it successful.

Thanks.

Hi sood15
How do you do this:
"From database of (using phpMyAdmin) joomla 2.5 installation with virtuemart 2.0.2, I drop virtuemart tables and from database of old installation in joomla 1.5 with virtuemart 2.0.2, I just export virtuemart tables, and import that table in joomla2.5 clean installation database ( but make sure change the old table prefix to match with joomla 2.5 clean installation database table prefix)"
I don't know too much about phpadmin, but i do have access to it. How do you drop tables? export just virtuemart tables? change the prefix?

Hello Ellen,

You should first get familiar with the features and commands that are in phpMyAdmin. Just learning about those will help you get started.

Check out this list of basic commands
my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/556

This should help you get familiar with dropping tables.
www.php-developer.org/delete-all-mysql-t...ting-mysql-database/

Check these out, and then ask specific questions. If Sood sees this he might be able to tell you his specific method.

Cheers,
Ed
