I can not get my Facts &b Figures, news and events and footer to show up on this page www.columbiasc.edu/index.php/evening/ it is suppose to look like this page www.columbiasc.edu/index.php/graduate/. Both are set up the same so can not figure out why one is working and not the other.

Thanks,
Holly

Hello Holly,

First off, cute site! :-)

Second, is this Facts & Figures a module? If so, go to Extensions > Module Manager > your Module > And look at the Menu Assignment. Make sure your pages are selected that you want it to appear on.
Warm Regards,

Hi Holly,

Where is the text in the correct module coming from? Is that a custom html module and you've written the text into it, or are you using a plugin or component to generate the text, and a companion module to display it.

Looking at the pages, it looks like you have two different modules assigned to two different pages.

Check to see if you have duplicate modules.

Cheers
Ed

Someone else made the web site but I think it is a custom html module.

Hi Holly,

go to Extensions > Module Manager look in the list and see if you have two modules that do the same thing on different pages.

Try copying one of the working ones and replacing the non-working one with a working one. There could be something wrong with that and it would be easier to replace it than troubleshoot it if it's a custom html module.

ok but it is not just that module. The footer isn't showing up on that page and The news and events isn't working.

What do you mean by news and events isn't working? Are you using an extension for that, or is it a newsfeed? Seems there is more to this. Can you give any more detail of the problem?

It is a module also. The footers on some of the pages are messing up also. I can email you the index.php file to look at if that would help?

Hollycook,

Did you check and make sure you don't have 2 different modules trying to use the same position on that page?

Hi
What I think might have happened is that the person that built the web site produced the Facts & Figures module then decided to make changes to it. They duplicated the module and assigned it to certain pages. Hence to are running 2 very similar modules on different pages. To check to see if this theory is correct go to the module manager.
Where you see the line of drop down selectors go to"Select Type" and from the options select "custom html". If you know the name of the position that this module appears you can refine the search by filtering on "Select Position". Open up the modules and see if you can find more than one for the Facts & Figures.
If so decide which one you want to use and disable the other. Make sure that the chosen one features in the position that you want plus use the menu option to select all the pages that you want it to appear on.
If this is correct the footer problem is likely to be similar.
Regards
Hope I am not butting in on this problem, just thought that I might be able to provide quick help.

OK when I go to the custom HTML only one thing shows up home sights and sounds. When I go to select position for that module there is a evening facts and figure and a facts and figures in the list but the only custom HTML that shows up is the sights and sounds no others.

So since I have an evening facts and figure and a facts and figures it will not work? So other words I can only have one for the entire site? I can not have the same module other places listing different facts and figures?

Ok - one module is "evening Facts and figures" the other is "facts and figures".

In your first post you say
this page www.columbiasc.edu/index.php/evening/ it is suppose to look like this page www.columbiasc.edu/index.php/graduate/. Both are set up the same so can not figure out why one is working and not the other.

When I look at this closer why should they look alike? One is set up for the "Graduate" menu at the top of the page and the other for the "Evening" menu. The modules look similar but link to different faq.
It is as though you are running 2 sites - Graduate and Evening hence the modules look similar but are doing different things (also applies to the footer).

HI Holly,

I've read all these. I think maybe we don't understand the problem yet. Could you review this lesson and the one following it and see if it makes sense to you. That might help you explain it better.

Hi Holly
Have you sorted your problem? I have been thinking about it - are you just wanting to add some text to the module FAQ plus in the footer get the module to display events and news?

No it hasn't been fixed. The modules were working on this page then all of a sudden stopped. The footer is not showing up on this page and the wrong footer is showing up on other pages. And yes the text for the FAQ and The news and events to show up.

Hi Holly
I have had a look at the two links provided in you first post. For the "FAQ" they now both show text under the title and the links work. Both pages now display News and Events in the footer. So things have changed on the site.
Can you please provide links to the pages were the wrong footer is showing.
If you find your modules placed in the footer you can then choose which pages you wish them to display by clicking on the menu options at the bottom of the page below the editor box.
Regards
Mark
