TOPIC: help figuring out what is module and what is article..

help figuring out what is module and what is article.. 10 months 4 weeks ago #49553

I thought that everything that is considered the main content would be in an article...now I'm not sure...a bit confused actually.

So I started out with the homepage...which the main image is in an article (this image will be replaced with flash..somehow)..

then when I looked at the other pages, I realized that I need new divs to divide the sections and all that...should I make those modules or articles or what? I need something that will make it easy for the owner to change if needed...so what should I do..help...

Hi Carin,

Those div positions would be module positions that you would want to create.

Is that what you were looking for or more specific information or resources? :-)

I guess what I need is the main article area, but then I need to create divs within that area..so should I hard code that into a custom HTML article? or should I create separate modules and insert them into that article??

Hi Carinlynchin,

Is this just for one page or for most/all pages?

Most pages because if you imaging shopping a website and every page you view can have a different layout as far as products, product descriptions, recently viewed stuff, recommended stuff..etc...

I saw this tutorial on doing that but haven't tried it yet, any recommendations are welcome

What tutorial did you see that told you how to do this?

Also have you taken our template course? Adding modules is covered pretty well there.

Also have you read any of these?

Hi carinlynchin,

OK, sounds good. We're here to help if you need anything.

Sorry, we weren't able to give an exact answer initially for this one, but it's hard to give an answer without being given a good question, and I know it's hard to give a good question without sufficient knowledge to know how to formulate the question.

Long story short, we'll be here and work with you through all this :) Just let us know if you need anything.

Kind regards,
Nick
