Hi,

I have restored my site on my local host using Akeeba restore. I want to try out extensions on the local host. I am using the tutorial for frontend article manager, and I have restricted access to only employees. I have set up the user levels for the employees, and the menu has only employee access. Now I want to test the article management by logging in the front end but I get an error saying server busy or unable to connect

what could be causing that?

thanks,
Shirin

Hi Shirin,

Normally that's an indication that there are too many requests on the server at one time.

Try to restart Apache and MySQL.
Clear your browser cache to make sure you don't have any Javascripts running.
Try turning off some other modules temporarily to see if it's caused by a module conflict.

What are you using WAMP,XAMPP or are you on a MAC?

Hi Shirin,

Is there any update? If you still can't get it to work, what's the exact error message that you're getting? Please copy and paste it.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi,

I have tried clearing hte browser cache, stopping apache, and mysql, nothing I still get the same error. This is the error:

Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

thanks

Is there only one site that is generating this error? Do you have other sites on the same machine that work?

There are three things that could be causing the problem that I can think of, and you need to isolate the issues so you can see which one is causing the problem.

If you have other sites working, you could try abandoning that installation and reinstalling it. If no sites work, then you might have to reload WAMP.

There might also be a problem with your TCPIP connection and your local IP address. Here are some search results you can look at to see if you can check that out.
www.google.com/search?aq=2&oq=reset+loca...l+area+connection+ip

I'm not an expert at TCPIP so I'm not sure what to advise for this.

Also set your ACL rules back to default levels and see if you get access when the ACL rules are not so restrictive.
