Extension or way to scroll images 11 months 1 week ago #49134

Hi,

Do you know of any extensions/modules in Joomla that will give me the effect of the scrolling pictures like that seen at this site: poet.com/

My client found the above website and wants me to incorporate something similar, and not knowing whether the site was made in a CMS like Joomla or simply by lots of javascript and other coding, I figured I'd ask you for suggestions or an extension I should install that will mimic the effect.

The site is hosted locally because the client has their old website still up and running.

Also, if I may add, the template tutorial videos paid off -- I was able to design a template in 2 days (re-working it now).

Regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Yes, there's over a hundred Joomla slideshows to select from :)

Check out the following three categories on the JED:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-...age-jquery-slideshow
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-...e-mootools-slideshow
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-...ge-scripts-slideshow

We're glad to hear that the template tutorials paid off and that you were able to design a template in two days! We're excited for you! :) By the way, which tutorials did you go through? Did you go through our 1.5 Template class or 2.5 template class?

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks, I will take a look at these links. I used the Joomla 2.5 tutorial videos, and while parts of them were difficult to understand, if I had problems (and if I have problems in the future) I simply asked my questions here and got answers.

Regards,

Eric

Edit: I am unable to access the links to the Joomla Extension Directory on any of my computers, devices. I wonder if the JED is down. I also went to Google and found the main page and also cannot access that. I will try again in a little while. Perhaps they're doing maintenance.

Hi Eric,

You're welcome!

Take a look on the JED now. It should be back up again.

Thanks for the feedback on the class! If I can question you just a little bit more, which parts were difficult to understand? Would have snippets of code at the bottom of the videos make everything clearer or is there this something else?

Kind regards,
Nick

Nick,

Snippets of the code would have been fantastic. There were a number of times where the instructor changed screens very quickly, which made it hard to follow.

Thanks, I can now access the links you sent me as the pages load.

Question: do you have tutorials on how to make a template for Wordpress as well? I am considering, after finishing this site for the client, taking a look at the wordpress tutorials.

Regards,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the feedback again! We're going to add the snippets next week based on your feedback and one other person's feedback.

Glad the links are working for you now!

That's actually one of our next class that we hope to launch in July :)

Kind regards,
Nick

I ended up going with the DJ-ImageSlider extension and it works very well and was very easy to use.

Thanks again.
