Hi,

When visitors fill in a form I made with chrono forms, they get this message on their screen:
Deprecated: Function ereg() is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts/sitesuccess.nl/httpdocs/components/com_chronocontact/libraries/mails.php on line 117

Deprecated: Function ereg() is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts/sitesuccess.nl/httpdocs/components/com_chronocontact/libraries/mails.php on line 117

When I go to my chrono forms admin, I see this message:
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts/sitesuccess.nl/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_chronocontact/admin.chronocontact.php on line 1593

How and where can I solve this problem?

Regards, Maurice

Hi Maurice,

You have to contact ChronoForm's developers to truly resolve those issues (or get the latest version if you don't have it already). Basically, it seems that you're using PHP 5.3 and they still have older PHP code which needs to be updated. In the mean time, you can lower your error reporting in your global configuration to hide the messages.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks! My hosting just upgraded from PHP 5.2 to PHP 5.3, so that seems to be the problem. I'm curious, how could you see it was this problem? In the error message I do not see anything with PHP 5.3.

About the error reporting: I put it to 'simple' now and the message is gone already. What happens if there is a major problem with my website, will the error message be shown? Or does it work differently?
And I guess, normally it is better to put on 'system default'?

From experience :)

If there's a major problem, you'll know! :) And then you can set it to a higher setting for testing purposes. System default could really be anything, high or low error reporting. It depends on your server's setup.

Kind regards,
Nick
