Within the body of any page containing an email address I am getting the following on the front end. Is there a way to turn this notification off.

e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Hi Firefly9,

Yes, you can by placing {emailcloak=off} anywhere before the email address. Or you can disable that feature everywhere by disabling the email clock plugin in plugin manager. That being said, we recommend keep it on and viewing the site with Javascript enabled. Almost all users are now browsing the internet with Javascript enabled.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks. Does embedding the email behind text (if you know what I mean) do the same thing as cloaking. I certainly don't mind the feature and you are right it's a good idea, but that notice to users on the front end is very annoying.

You're welcome, Firefly9!

I'm not sure what you mean by embedding the email behind text. If it's present in the page source and that feature is not enabled, then bots can easily harvest the email address.

Kind regards,
Nick

I tried what I was referring to (meaning selecting text such as "contact us by email" and making it a link by adding mailto: in front of the email address using the text editor), but it doesn't make a difference. That notice still shows up.

Main point - I like the feature but want to hide the notice. Is everyone putting up with this notice showing up on the front end?

"This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it."

PS - checked my other joomla sites and this is not happening. All of them have email cloak enabled.

Hi Firefly9,

It should only show up for those that have Javascript disabled in their browser which will be about less than 2% of visitors, depending on your actual visitors.

Could we get a link to your page to take a quick look?

What Joomla version are you running?

Kind regards,
Nick

www.radisson.ca/index.php/radisson-jamboree
Look at the very bottom of the page under contact. The cloaking feature is enabled.
This is also showing on this page: www.radisson.ca/index.php/town-administration/town-office and there isn't even an email there yet. Just the word email.

But as I said the cloaking feature is also enabled for my 2 other sites and this message is not showing.

Updated now to 2.5.11.

Looks like some of your HTML formatting or something similar is getting in the way. Would you send me some login credentials to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so I can take a quick look for you? Also, please do two things for me:
1) Include a link to this forum post in the email
and
2) After sending the email, reply to this forum post letting me know you sent the email so that I can check it.

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi FF9,

Looks like it's an issue with your "System - JSN Framework" plugin. You can disable/enable it in plugin manager to double check. You'd have to contact JoomlaShine's developers for a fix.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Update - I have a ticket in with JoomlaShine, but discovered that disabling the plugin also disabled JSN uniForm, so I had to turn it back on. Hopefully JoomlaShine can get me a fix.

Yes, I should have mentioned that to just disable it to double check, but don't necessarily keep it off as it might be used for a function that you need. Glad you got things figured out though!

Kind regards,
Nick
