I am not having any luck editing articles with my wsyeig editor JCE.

I am using J1.5.26 & K2 (latest version 2.5.7), I have upgraded to the latest version of JCE.

I do not have any problems with j2.5.3/4 and JCE.

Any ideas how to go about resolving the issue?

Chaim

Hi Chaim,

If reinstallation and upgrades don't fix it, I'm not sure. Can you describe the problem you're having? What's actually happening? Or not happening?

Thanks
Ed

Ed,

When I want to create an new article (it doesn't matter what component I am using - I have tried with Core Articles, K2 Items, JCal Pro entries), I do not see the JCE editor, if I change my editor to MCE (which doesn't have the flexibility that JCE does), I am able to use the WYSIWYG (MCE).

I have a screen shot, but there is not option to upload it.

Is it possible you can send me some login information? I can check your settings and see if it's all correct. If everything is set up properly, then we'll know you have a different problem.

Let me know.

Hi Chaim,

I went through all your settings and can't find anything wrong. I thought it might be a conflict with your admin template so I temporarily switched it and that didn't have any effect.

I suspected that because your link at the top right to the JCE editor doesn't seem to work. But it does show up, so it's probably not the template.

I suspect there may be a plugin conflict. The way to check is to turn off everything but the core plugins, and if the problem goes away, turn them on one at a time and see where the problem starts.

Also I would completely remove the JCE editor and try a new install. There is no reason I can see why this won't work, so checking for corrupt uploads and plugin conflicts is the next thing to do.

Ed,

Thanks for taking a look. I have a lot of plugins, so it is going to be a bit of a pain to "debug." i am in the process of upgrading the template to j2.5, so any articles that need to get added, can be done by manual HTML.

Have a great day,
Chaim

Sorry I couldn't find a definitive answer. You might want to create a new test site and install JCE first. Make sure it works and then start adding things. It would be easier than turning things off then turning them on again.

If you completely rebuild the test site and it works, the all you need to do is switch data base connections and everything will be fixed.

At least that is how I would approach it.

Cheers,
Ed

Ed,

After digging around on the JCE forum, it turns out that the issue was being caused by having the compress JS and CSS set to on in the global configuration. I don't know why this caused thr issue in the first place, but am glad that it is back up and running.

Thanks for your help,
Chaim

ps i disabled your account, if need be, I will re-enable it in the future ;)
