Hi,

I've been trying to sort out a research/e-commerce site solution. I've read a lot about Joomla-Magento connection (Magebridge being one such solution) but it looks laborious and since I'm a student with a full-time job, laborious isn't of any interest to me.

So, I've done your Joomla Beginner classes (online). I have an already existing Joomla site, but it uses a very old version of Joomla. Lots of new great features since then, BUT

I've also come across Drupal articles which suggest that Drupal is more flexible and has more expansion power but more difficult on the uptake than Joomla...

This does not scare me, my computer literacy is not stellar but I'm good at multiskilling to the level that I need to know something, and am looking at possibly attending your Joomla and Drupal (back-to-back) courses in Chicago this summer if space is available BUT

Now, I've come across a Droomla option. I can find no training and although the following site touts it as the holy grail, it's videos do not even offer sound just a rapid-visual follow through www.corephp.com/joomla-products/droomla.html

Can you give me your take or review of Droomla. I understand that these two platforms seem to have developed to stages that the distances between them should be emerged so that users can benefit from both the Joomla CMS and SEO and the greater flexibility of Drupal.

Thanks ever so much.

Hi Ruth,

Glad to see you joined us. This is a good question for a first post.

I'll look into doing some tutorials on Drush, but I can't promise at this point. We're focusing on solutions for Joomla 2.5 since Joomla 1.5 will be phased out soon and support will be dropped.

What features are you looking for? As far as e-commerce sites, I can tell you from experience a Joomla site will go up much faster and with fewer headaches and less of a learning curve than a Drupal site. Updating a 1.5 site to 2.5 isn't very difficult.

If laborious isn't of any interest to you, do you really want to add the steep Drupal learning curve to your project?

What is it about Drupal that you feel you will need? It may be better to start with Drupal and stick with it if it has features you feel are essential.

Give us some more details about what you are actually trying to accomplish and we'll try to help you make a decision.

Looking forward to more posts.
Cheers,
Ed
