Hi and welcome to OSTraining, mhan.

Two questions for you:

1) Are you trying to install this file: www.ostraining.com/courses/class/joomla-25/j25-templates/ >> Exercise files >> cooking-with-kids-template.zip

2) Are you installing this on Joomla 2.5?
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

Steve,

Yes I am trying to install that file, but it is one that I made going through the exercises. I basically copied everything that the trainer did, so I am not sure what is up?

Yes I am trying to install on Joomla 2.5.

I appreciate the help.

Thanks,

mhan

Ah, OK. So you've followed the course all the way through and have created your own version of the template?

The error message implies that you're missing a file called params.ini but that is a file that was only needed by Joomla 1.5.

Can you attach your current template to this thread or email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ? I'll take a look for you.

Hi mhan,

The error is because the params.ini file is listed in your xml file, but the file is not included in the template zip.

Sounds like your created his own template xml file. If so, you just need to remove the line for params.ini and all should be fine. Or you can use the updated Exercise files located at:
www.ostraining.com/courses/class/joomla-25/j25-templates/

Kind regards,
Nick

Nick,

I have been going through updated exercise files. And I had the params.ini file in both the xml file as well as the template zip folder.

Anything else I could try

Matt

Hi Matt,

Joomla 2.5 stores the parameters in the database so a params.ini file is no longer needed. You can delete the file and remove the line from the XML file. It should work for you then :)

Nick,

I have tried that too.

Also why was that in the updated Joomla 2.5 training if it isn't needed?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Is your site live? If so, would you send me some login credentials to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so I can fix it for you?

If it was included in a video, it was an accident, sorry about that. Do you remember which video that information was in?

Nick,

I got the template loaded onto joomla and working. I had my template details file named template_details.xml.xml for some reason.

I am not at the moment recalling which video that was on.

I appreciate both yours and Steve's help.

Thanks,

Matt
