This is in regards to: www.davewilliams.com/davewilliams/membership-section.

When I click on the "Create an Account Link", it takes me to a page to fill out all my info. When I do that...and push "Register", it doesn't do anything. Just stays on that page. Do you know what would be causing that to happen?

Blessings,
~Anita

Hello Heart0,

I was also looking at your source code. Your page will not validate unless you insert a space in between your quotes and "/>".

Example:
<input type="text" name="jform[name]" id="jform_name" value="" class="required" size="30"/>

SHould be this:
<input type="text" name="jform[name]" id="jform_name" value="" class="required" size="30" />

For all fields throughout that whole document.

Let me know if that helps.
Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero

Okay, I'm able to see the same thing on this one.

But here's thing. This is Joomla's User Registration. So, it's all code that they wrote. Why would it be wrong? lol.

And how in the world do I figure out where to find it so that I can fix that...

Hi Heart0,

If it's a module, you'd find it in your module folder.

I just remember reading someone with an issue why their module didn't work about a month ago. After hours of his intense searching through code to find an error in the extension, it was a result to not putting a space before the self closing tag. And he mentioned he just realized Joomla has very strict coding standards and that is easy to forget.

And I've noticed that each field on your module that has a broken validation doesn't have a space before the self closing tag. So I am just jumping to conclusions from seeing that in your code.

:-)
Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero

It's the "K2 USER" module. It's not a module that gives me an option to edit the codes/fields. I can just turn it on and tell it what page to go to when someone logs in, etc. And the "Create an Account" link is something that you can turn on and off in the K2 Preferences. Neither forms I created. They came with the K2 installation.

Know what I mean?

Hi Anita,

What Joomla version, K2 version, and K2 user module version are you using?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Anita,

OK, please try updating to the latest 2.5.7 for the K2 extensions:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/authori...nt-construction/8061

Hopefully that will resolve the issue for you :)

Kind regards,
Nick

It didn't seem to fix it :(

Is there another user login extension that you're aware of that works great?

Hi Heart,

Last time I used K2 I had this same problem. I ended up actually not using the newest k2 module, but the one that it replaced. Look on the JED for some K2 specific modules that might replace this. Or try the the old module. Also be sure you disable the standard Joomla login module so they aren't both active at the same time.

Okay good - glad I wasn't going crazy!! haha.

It actually won't let me disable the joomla login module. Has a lock on it and said it's protected...

So, I actually disabled the K2 user module...and just used the standard joomla login module. However, the "create account link" STILL isn't working right. SO... I don't know. LOL.

Blessings,
~Anita

Hi Anita,

As a Super User, you can click the lock to unlock it. You can also check-in everything from your Admin area >> Site >> Maintenance >> Global Check-in

I don't see any "Create an account" link on the following page:
www.davewilliams.com/davewilliams/membership-section

Did you by chance disable registration?

Also, it doesn't look like it's a module but rather the registration form from a menu item.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hey Nick :)

It's a module that I'm using {loadposition login} to show up on the page: www.davewilliams.com/davewilliams/membership-section

Yes, I had disabled the registration since it didn't work. My client doesn't like things to appear if they're not working :) But I'll turn it on for you until you have a chance to look at it and see if you can figure out what's happening :)

Hi Anita,

Try turning error reporting to maximum from your global configuration. Hopefully that will produce a detailed error message for us.

Test it and see if you get an error. If not, go to User Manager >> Options >> make sure "Allow User Registration" is set to "Yes".

If that doesn't help, please try reinstalling your Joomla core files using the following tutorial (it applies for 2.5 as well):
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-up...min-tools-extension/

That will hopefully reset any corrupt files.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hey Nick - where do you see any errors when error reporting is set to maximum? I've actually always have had it set to maximum.... Is there a certain file I need to look in for errors now?

Hi Anita,

You would check for the errors on the pages that you're using (e.g. www.davewilliams.com/davewilliams/membership-section )

Since you've also had it set to maximum, sounds like you're not getting any error message and need to go on to the next step :)

Kind regards,
Nick

I went ahead and just did a Joomla Registration form through Chronoforms :) That way I don't have to waste time trying to figure this out. ha! :) I had no idea I could do that - but found the tutorial :)

Hi Anita,

I'm glad Chronoforms worked out for you! :-) With using any forms on my site, I always prefer to use a form extension. :-)

Have a great day. :P
