Hi,

I'm checking to make sure that I'm not messing up my final step of migrating my live site to 2.5. It has been a long way...
Situation: current live site in 1.5 (sitesuccess.nl) and a testsite in 2.5
www.sitesuccess.nl/test
. Testsite is ready now to go really live.
1. I'm intend to use this toturial (www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/move-a-jo...t-directory-to-live/) for doing this. Suitable for this purpose?
2. Order: first, relocate my Joomla 1.5 website to a subfolder as a "just in case". And then relocate my Joomla 2.5 website to the httpdocs folder. Correct?
3. Do I still have to do something with configuring (new) databases?
4. Anything else I should think about (besides backing up)?
5. Or would the akeeba/kickstart be a better way?

Regards, Maurice

Hi

1.Yes
2.Yes
3.No the connection to the database should be fine.
4.Sit back and relax - you have a meticulous approach so all will go well.
5.No need for this as all the files are on your server they just need moving around to a new directory.
All the best.
Mark

One thing I would add is to make a backup of both sites before proceeding (just in case:)

Kind regards,

Hi Mark and Nick,

Migrating went fine, no troubles at all. I'm happy!
There is only one thing. If I want to make changes to my global configuration, it just does not work. After saving the changes, Joomla just puts it back to what it was. Some examples:
1. I want/need to change the settings of the path to the log folder.
2. Also the path to the temp folder.
3. Changing my site from no index, no follow to index, follow. I now used sh404SEF to do so, but normally I would be alble to change the settings in the global configuration.
Notice that I have not removed my old site (still in directory */old) and neither the 'test'(still in directory */test). Might that influence my global configuration?

Hi,

I was cheering too early. Besides the issue I mentioned concerning the global configuration, there is all of a sudden another thing. Somehow an extra div has been added. When you go to www.sitesuccess.nl, you wil notice that under the contentheading is an extra div (.jbmeta) with some extra styling and also showing an icon with the publicing date. What makes it really strange, the same has happened now on
www.sitesuccess.nl/test
. This extra div with the icon was never there, and also was not the first few hours after the migration.
Hope you can help!

Hi Maurice,

Would you open up the two new issues in two new separate forum topics please? Thanks in advance! One of our support techs will help quickly in there.
