TOPIC: Category IDs

Category IDs 1 year 3 weeks ago #44820

Which of the training videos go over the category IDs for menu items? This has been a point of confusion for me as I have, at times, created, changed, deleted, etc. menus and sub menus and end up with no category ID for one of these. I am then looking all over for what the blamed ctg ID should be so I can enter it in the proper box. I just changed some menu items and now have sub menus with no ctg ID and can't seem to find the proper ID (may be in a deleted menu item).

Thx,
Maxx

Hi Maxx,

I'm a little confused over you're problem. Every item, category or article has an id listed at the end of the list on the admin page.

Are you saying that some of these id's are missing?

Ed, you are simply confused because I have confused the simplest issue into something big. I just got the answer and it looks bad on my part for not knowing this. Using VirtuMart, I had created various categories for one brand BUT FORGOT to input the category ID into the sub menu items so, obviously and of course, these did not work at all. Now that I simply added the category numbers created in VirtuMart into the proper boxes for the submenus....all is wonderful and there is peace (at least around my desk). Sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers,
Maxx

Hey Maxx,

I can't count the times I've done something similar, only to have Steve or Nick point out the obvious. The funny thing about this kind of problem is you usually figure it out by the time you're able to explain the problem. Then you wonder why it was a problem in the first place.

Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Ed
