Hi Team.
When I try to do a re-install of j! 1.5.26 on a site, I get the following error after the file extraction. I believe my install is incomplete as a result.

ERROR:
Could not open /path-to-host/htdocs/logs/index.html for writing

any ideas?

Gilles

PS. i'm trying to re-install as Jupgrade won't run. does absolutely nothing when I press the big upgrade button. Also, below the big button, I see many other rectangles for statuses (all no status).

See if Admin Tools will fix your permissions.

To use Jupgrade you might have to change the configuration. This was written early on before they made some additions, but it does show you where to find the configuration for Jupgrade and what you should consider changing.

Thanks Ed,
Ran Admin tools, same result. The link you provided doesn't address the error I get.

Any ideas?

the logs folder exists.

index.html does not. I'm not sure it's supposed to exist at this point. Perhaps the msg is about the folder, not the file. but folder is there, 755 perms.

Check your global configuration and see what the path to the log file is. It should end in a directory not a file.

It does end in a directory...
/name-here.../htdocs/tmp

Hi Gilles,

That's the path to the tmp folder not the log folder.

As to your error, it likely means that your host has a system folder named "logs" that conflicts with the Joomla core folder.

You'll have to reinstall manually instead. Please make a backup then download the following file:
joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/16...ble-Full_Package.zip

and unzip it (or upload it via FTP) into your Joomla root.

Kind regards,
Nick

Ok..so I unzipped everything and removed the install folder. Same error with Jupgraded.

Big start button that doesn't do anything. I attached a screenshot.

Hi Gilles,

Would you open up the new issue (although it's the first one for you :) in a new forum topic please? We'll help you there. Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Nick
