This happens every once in a while and I have no idea why and it is frustrating. I click to view a video, and it does not appear. Right now the menu page looks fine (if you recall, my very first question came about because, unknown to me, some of the menu items did not appear.)

Anyway, I can see all availabe videos fine at this page:http://www.ostraining.com/courses/class/joomla-25/j25-beginner/view/ BUT some of the little 'eye' icons appear for videos I haven't actually been able to watch. Probably because I clicked on them to see if the page would open.

When I click on a link, where the video should be, it's blank.

I've taken screenshots and will try to attach.

I'll also switch computers and see what happens.

Most exasperating.

Hi tallong,

How fast is your internet connection? Could you try this site (www.speedtest.net/) and then use the "Share This Result" feature to send me the url of the information? The result that you're getting usually happens as a result of a slow internet connection, where it takes the video sometime to display.

Also, what browser and browser version are you using?

When you experience the issue, does a refresh help?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick

If I open my local area connection, it says 100MBps. Is that bad?

I'm using Windows 7, Mozilla Firefox version 14.0.1 and that speedtest site won't work properly either.

Oh, Nick, forgot to say, a refresh does squat.

I got in touch with the ISP, and the Rep insisted I open Internet Explorer. It all worked on IE.

I did the speedtest three times and here are the results, I have no idea what this means:

Hi Tallong,

I was having similar problems with Firefox. I had to disable several add ons that were causing the problem.

In particular the one that caused my problem was a Norton utility that encrypts passwords called Norton Identity Protect. Try disabling any FireFox add ons, and check your security programs by temporarily disabling them.

This was also blocking my access to quite a few sites that didn't require logins at all. I finally had to remove Norton's utility from my site and all the problems went away.

I don't know if your problem is the same, but I would suspect browser or security software before anything else.

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks, Ed.

I quite believe you. I had a similar problem earlier, when I couldn't access my test sites through the WAMP server and it turned out that Skype was interfering with it. Happily, Nick gave me a fix for that one.

I don't use Norton, so it's likely something else. I will use IE for the time being, because my current joomla problem is trying to figure out social media badges. I'll working on (finding and) disabling the Firefox addons when I've done the social media buttons/have a spare moment/have given up in frustration.

Thanks again.

Hi tallong,

Your internet speed looks good.

Yes, your issue appears to be with some Firebug addons blocking the videos. I would look to security addons, as Ed mentioned, and also Ad blocking addons which sometimes confuse videos for Ads.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick

Thanks for that. I haven't yet gotten to figuring out which addons are causing the problems, got too much to learn first, but I'm working around the issue, so thanks, team!
