My website started acting glitchy today.

When I go to save articles, the formatting, photos, read mores, all disappear leaving me with only raw unformatted text.

Also the small calendar generated by gcalendar overview started displaying incorrectly.

I checked my updates and nothing comes up. I am still on joomla 1.7 on this particular website.

Your help is appreciated - Ottoman

HI Ottoman,

First I would upgrade to the latest Joomla. Lots of bugs have been fixed and there should be no adverse consequences upgrading to the latest version.

Some of your problems may be browser related. I know I have this problem when I use IE8 to edit Joomla. I quit using IE for editing so I don't know if that's still a problem. Chrome is better, and there don't seem to be any problems like that (although there were in the past). Firefox is the most reliable, but the slowest.

Using the latest version and the best browser are the first troubleshooting steps I would take. If you've already done that and still having the problem let us know.

Cheers,
Ed

I've tried several browsers, that is not the problem

The code is being stripped out when I save - down to basic text only.

Hi
Does this help?
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/stop-joom...-stripping-out-code/
This does not answer you first question but might be a solution to the second. Did you upgrade to 2.5?
Regards
Mark

The code is being radically stripped out to where pictures, hard returns, line breaks etc. are being lost. The article you attached Mark sounds like it is for adding html code which I am not doing.

The automatic update feature seems not to be working. I have purged the cache and looked for updates but none appear.

I am worried that if I upgrade joomla, my plug-ins and modules may not work any more. Is this a valid concern?

Thank you Mark! That seems to have fixed the article problem!

Now I'm left with a gcalender overview challenge. The small thumbnail calendar, which is usually a small square, is now inserting events into the calendar.

The small calendar should not show the events - rather just link to them.

See attached:

You can also see the odd way the gcalendar overview is displaying down in the bottom right-hand corner. website example

Thanks again!

Pleased that we have sorted part of the problem. Sorry I have not used this calendar but I am sure that somebody else will help.
My suggestion would be to update your site to 2.5 and install the latest version of Gcalendar.
