Hi,

I've been searching for a tutorial on how to restore your site via an Akeeba backup.

Did something stupid again :(

Thanks Tessa!

Quick questions: It says at number 4 "In the administration area of your local Joomla site, go to Components >> Akeeba Backup >> Configuration and we're going to change a setting before we backup and migrate. Click on the 'Advanced' tab and then locate the 'Archiver engine' and change it to 'JPA Akeeba Backup Archive, and click Save."

If I already have a backup saved in Cpanel, do I need to do this still?

Or, more specifically, how can I restore dropped tables from an akeeba backup? I dropped all the product tables from hikashop...

Thanks :)

Hi Bugger101,

If you already have a very recent Akeeba backup saved, then it's not needed.

Since you're only trying to restore your Hikashop tables then I'd recommend that you do the following to simply your life :)

1) Restore your recent backup to a test folder using the 2nd half of the tutorial that Tessa mentioned.
The following instructions will all be about your test site:
2) Update to the latest version of Akeeba
2) Go to the configuration options of Akeeba and set the backup type to "Database only"
3) Then go to the Database Tables Exclusion and exclude the other tables (i.e. the non-Hikashop ones)
4) Make a backup
5) Reset your settings to what they were (so you don't forget)

That will get you a backup of just the SQL for your Hikashop tables :)

Then the key question is, how familiar with phpMyAdmin are you? Can you handle the rest of the steps on your own or do you need instructions?

Kind regards,
Nick
