Good morning

Just completed an Akeeba back up/restore of this site www.sportandwellness.ca and lost all my menu links. The menu is still there, all my articles are still there, I've gone in and confirmed the menu items are still pointing to the articles, I've even created some new menu items pointing to existing articles but the menu links are still causing me headaches and I've hit a wall.

Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Thanks..

Hi redhalton,

Have you tried clicking the rebuild button on the menu manager?

Hi Tessa

Yup...tried it numerous times, tried relinking the menu to articles. Just checked on the server and instead of the typical htaccess.txt/.htaccess file there is now an htaccess.bak file. What do you make of this?

Thanks..

ps: if you want to go in the back-end and have a look I can pm you the login details.

Hi Redhalton,

You need an .htaccess file.

Copy the contents of your htaccess.bak file and create an .htaccess file.

Let me know if this works.

If not, another thing you can try is going to Extensions Manager > Database > Fix.

Hi Tessa

I deleted the kickstart.php file and now I'm going to tackle the htaccess.bak file. Do I simply give this file htaccess.bak a name change to .htaccess?

Thanks

Hi Redhalton,

It's just a backup file naming convention. You COULD change the name to .htaccess or (highly suggested) to make a copy of the text inside and put it in a new text document called .htaccess.

Thanks Tessa

Between the two of us we managed to find a solution. When using Akeeba Kickstart one needs to delete the kickstart.php file, temporary files, change the htaccess file and sometimes (not in my case) the php.ini file will need to be renamed.

Thanks for all your help.

Bob
