Hi,

I use Akabee to backup my website (1.5.26). The backup was normally about 35 MB. Now all of a sudden 130 MB. And I haven't changed anything at my site (because I was working at my testsite). Any idea why the MB's are all of a sudden so high? Dangerous?

Moreover, when I try to update from Akabee 3.4.3 to 3.5.1 I get the errormessage: ERRORNOTFINDJOOMLAXMLSETUPFILE. What can be wrong?

Maybe good to know, that this coming monday I want to remove this 1.5 website and migrate to my testwebsite (2.5).

Maurice

Hi Maurice,

Did you try recreating another backup and see if it's showing up the same size??

As for your error message updating, you have tried to install Akeeba Backup 3.5.x on Joomla! 1.5. This is not possible. Akeeba Backup 3.5.x only supports Joomla! 2.5. =D
Warm Regards,

Okay, one problem solved, the version.
Yes, I tried to create another backup, same problem, even half a MB more.
Hope you have a clue.

Hi
Are you backing up both the 1.5 site and the new 2.5 site all in one go. It might also be including your backups. Just a thought

Akeeba's default backup directory is administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup.

If you have multiple backups in the folder it gets baked up too, so you are making a copy of the backup file each time. So the site grows exponentially. Check that folder and see if there are any large backup files there.

Try cleaning that folder and your tmp directory before you make the next backup.

Cheers,
Ed

The backup of the 1.5 site is seperate from the 2.5 site.
Deleted the temfiles and the past backups, but the result stays the same.
When you think it can do no harm, I leave it as it is, as on monday I'll migrate anyway. And the backup of my test 2.5 site works normally.
What do you think?

Hi everyone,

Mark is correct. Akeeba Backup backups up all sub-diretories (unless you exclude some). So if www.sitesuccess.nl/ is your 1.5 site and www.sitesuccess.nl/your-2.5-site is your 2.5 site, then backing up the 1.5 site will backup the 2.5 site as well, since it's in a subfolder of the root 1.5 folder.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi all,

Ahaa.... Should explain at least a part of the puzzle. 1.5 was always 35 MB, 2.5 is 25MB, and now all of a sudden '1.5' is 130MB. A difference of 70MB wich I cannot explain. Or is this not the correct way to calculate backups?
Antway, if you think it can do no harm, I'll leave it as it is for now.

Regards,
Maurice

Hi Maurice,

The 1.5 site is also backing up the backups of the 2.5 site :P So there's atleast another 25 MB, perhaps more (depending on how many are in there).

No, it wouldn't do any harm.

Kind regards,
Nick
