Hello, First. Best Regards

I'm new to OStraining

This is my first question

I have a site with its own IP and SSL certificate, when you enable SSL for the administrator in joomla 1.7.5 (Site> Global Configuration> SSL Force> Administrator Only), I could not login! In the administrator, I had to modify configuration.php and change $ force_ssl = '1 '; to $ force_ssl = '0';, back to login!

1. Why did this happen?
2.As I can activate the ssl, without causing the problem again?

Hi and welcome, neoicono!

First, we need to get your Joomla version up-to-date to the latest 2.5.6. Your current one has several security issues in it as well as a lot of bugs that have been fixed in Joomla 2.5.6. Hopefully one of those bug fixes will resolve your current issue as well.

You can use the following tutorial to update:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-update-joomla-17-to-25/

Please make sure you've made a backup first:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-backup-a-joomla-16-site/

Let us know once you've updated and tried the SSL again.

Looking forward to your reply!

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Neoicono,

Your Joomlart template should take no effect if you upgrade your site from 1.7 to 2.5.

Also, Joomlart does have 2.5 versions, but your 1.7 template will still work with J!2.5.

Also, welcome here to OSTraining! :-D
Warm Regards,

I recommend, or should I do?

Hi neoicono,

I think the only problem with the administrator icons is that you need to clear your cache.

Go to Site > Maintenance and click Clear Cache. See if that fixes it and let us know.

Cheers,
Ed

Hi again neoicono,

You should also clear your browser's cache and refresh the page after you clear the cache.

Cheers,
Ed

If you are expecting to see it at the top of the administration page like Joomla 1.5 it won't be there. Now on the dashboard there is an icon that will tell you if your Joomla is up-to-date or you need to upgrade.

In the configuration.php file is the livesite="" empty or do you have a value in there? It should be empty.

Hi, Ed

public $live_site = 'Web address appears';

should be empty?

Yes, you are creating a loop because the admin keeps trying to redirect to the live site if you have anything in there.

If that doesn't fix it, let me know.
