Hi All!!! 1 year 6 months ago #32214

Hi,

I'm what you might call a TOTAL newbie at site building and Joomla. I just have a real love for all things computer / Internet related.

I got the training for Joomla and hope it will help me build a great website (details soon to come) and appreciate any and all advice as to how to best benefit from the training.

I do have a question regarding the versions; I notice that the training videos talk about Joomla 1.5 and the latest version is 1.7. Is there a noticeable difference between the two and is there training on 1.7 coming out soon?

Thanks for all comments,

Jac

Hi and welcome, Jac!

I'm sure you'll love Joomla! As to advice on how to get the most of the class, follow all the videos! There's even a video for specifically for how to get the most of the class :)

As to versions, 1.5 is the foundation of 1.7 and 1.7 has basically all the same features at 1.7 but with more things added. We do have a beginner's class for 1.6/1.7 (www.ostraining.com/joomla-16-course/) however I'd recommend also taking the 1.5 classes when you have a chance. Either way, you should definitely create your new site using the latest Joomla version which is 1.7

Once again, welcome! :)

Kind regards,
Nick

Hey Nick,

Thanks a lot for the tips. Already working on getting the 1.5 done, and following a bit with the 1.6. I see a few differences which make me appreciate the upgrade to 1.7 even more.

Thanks for everything,

Jac

You are definitely on the right track if you chose Joomla as your main content management system. :-)
