I have migrated a drupal 6 website to a new hosting and very often there is this out of memory message..

"Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 4980736) (tried to allocate 97950 bytes)..."

So I asked the hosting admin to increase the memory limit to 128M. However, this message still happen... I wonder why.. It doesn't happen in my hosting but theirs... How should I further trouble shoot this problem? Please advise. Thanks!

Hi SimonW,

Have you tried to clear browser/drupal cache to make sure the changes were taken effect?

Hi Tessa,

I have cleaned the caches and browsers several times. Here what I discovered after the migration yesterday.

1) the admin module affected...I have to optimize the js file to make it work.
2) The Image FUpload module also didn't work properly, I have to switch to image instead.

After these two done, the site looks ok. Seems their mod_security is interfering..

but the out of memory still exist once a while after the adjustment to 128MB.

Hi Simon,

You need to modify your php.ini file to expand your memory.

This is a joomla tutorial, but there is a section which will tell you how to modify the php memory limits.

www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/installation-problems/

This is a common problem with every CMS. Let us know if that helps.

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks Ed. They have done the updates and upgrade on the server. Seems better now.

Just one thing. I found there are contents/nodes which I inserted earlier is not listed in the content list at the backend. However, it displayed in View page (but linked to page not found)and yet, records exists in the database (node table).

So I think something wrong with the data in the database already. Just wondering how to fix this? Is there a module that can repair the database without accessing it? Cos I cannot access to the CP and database, so I need a tool to do this. I am currently using backup and restore module to extract the database, restore in my localhost and do the checking. Please advise if you know. Thanks!
