TOPIC: Homepage layout error when using Display Suite

Homepage layout error when using Display Suite 5 months 4 weeks ago #60055

When I try to change from a two col to a 3 col layout for my homepage, which works fine on a test site I have, I get the folowing message
The requested URL /admin/structure/ds/change-layout/node/home_page/default/ds_3col was not found on this server.
more obviously I don't have the apply button below the current layout example on the home page manage display I have on the test site
Any hints, where and what I need to add
cheers, Steve

Thanks Lennie

OK, so you're using Display Suite, I presume.

- Am I right in thinking that you're publishing only one article and then modifying that with DS?
- Does the same problem occur when that node when you're not on the homepage?

Hi, If I try to modify any page this way there is no apply button and I get the same message. Home page is just a content type with 4 fields

Hi Lennie

Sorry, we'll need more specific details to help you bugshoot this.

Basically our process is one of elimination:

- Does it happen only on the frontpage?
- Does it happen only with the 3 column layout?
- Does it happen only with one node or with all?
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

Okay. So I've even tried to do this on basic page - in which I have no content and done no fiddling with - and have the same problem, same message.
It happens with all column layouts. On the test site I pur up prior to this for people to decide if they wanted to go ahead, underneath the column layout I have an apply button, this doesn't appear here. Display suite seems to have changed slightly with 7 tick boxes but I have the same 4 enabled - disply suite, extras, forms and search, as opposed to the old version that only had those 4 boxes. To do it here I just went to a 3 col layout, then altered the css to get the widths I wanted.
I've tried other nodes like history and no button, same error message.
I have a less satisfactory work around for this but this looked right
cheers, Steve

Hi Lennie

This is an odd bug, I wonder if it has an odd solution.

Could you check whether clean URLs are enabled? ( as per this thread: drupal.org/node/1759148 )

Thanks. Clean URLs weren't working on this site and I'd delayed doing anything about it as it looked like something that could take a long time even if it didn't go totally pear-shaped. My.ht access file was empty so edited it in from the drupal17 zip, got the box to enable clean URLs and doing that solved the other problem. Just the tip I needed to get me on the right track. Well that and having a holiday and break from it all.
