TOPIC: Order of Effectively Learning Rich Internet Applications

Order of Effectively Learning Rich Internet Applications 9 months 2 weeks ago #53509

Hi

I am new to this web world. I started my training from coding tutorials-PHP. Please excuse me if my questions are stupid.
But I want to ask what is the best order (step by step) to effectively learn all the modules- HTML, CSS, PHP, WORDPRESS, JOOMLA, DRUPAL
or PHP, HTML, CSS, W, J, D
or other?

Thanks
Ankit

Hi and welcome, Ankit!

I personally would start with the Joomla 2.5 classes, then go on to the coding classes, then Wordpess, then Drupal.

The key question, though, is what are you wanting to learning or accomplish?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the reply. I will follow your advice.
I want to be able to build a website on my own using a CMS and must be able to customize the CMS as per the requirements. Assuming that I am totally new to it-in coding classes, what is the preferred order -HTML, CSS, PHP or other?

Also I was trying the below. Please excuse me if my doubts are silly.

<?php

echo "<p>This is the echo command.</p>";

print "<h2>This is the print command.</h2>";

?>

I wrote it in notepad and tried saving it as php-example.php.
But am not able to open it in the browser (the file is not recognizable on my system). Am I missing out on something-do I need to do some configuration/installation w.r.t php?

Kindly help out-if I am learning php, is there something that needs to be
configured or installed first on my system?

Thanks
Ankit

Hi Ankit,

For the coding classes, HTML >> CSS >> PHP.

As to your other issue, you need a localhost program such as WAMP. Take a look at:

Hope this helps!

If you need any more help with the local install, please open up a new forum topic for it.

Kind regards,
Nick
