I created a new database in PHPMyAdmin.
I want to add a *new user* and *privileges* but those links don't appear above. I am looking at some help pages that describe the process and my page shows no such selections in this image below. I created two databases and don't know how there are nine.
how do I add a new user and privileges?
Thank you.

Ruth

Is this on your lcoal machine or on a server? If it's on on your local machine you should have a tab that says privelges. If it's on the server, you probably have to create a user using the data base wizard or installer.

Where is this install?

Here's a picture of my localhost install using XAMPP.

127.0.0.1 is local
I know - about the tabs - that is what the directions say as stated above. Nick, do you recognize where I am at so I can move to the page with those tabs?

Those tabs are on the main page (and all the pages) in phyMyAdmin on my installation.

If you got the install from Apache Friends it should look like pretty much the same. You seem to have a completely different version. Here's what I see on the same tab you have selected.

You don't have the checkboxes next to your database names either. What version are you using?

I'll see if Nick knows anything that will help.

Looks like you might be logged in as annonymous and you aren't permitted to create users.

Tessa found this reference and I went through some more thraads on the forum and this seems likely. www.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?p=186819

Do you know if you're logged in as root or another user?

The best place to get help with this would be the apachefriends.org forum and the help documents thay have there.

If I was having this problem, I would reinstall xampp and when it asks for the mysql user I would use root and no password. But you may have done that already. I don't kow how you set it up.

Try asking the same question on www.apachefriends.org/f/
