TOPIC: Date format

Date format 11 months 2 weeks ago #47723

I want to put the date in the header of the web using php, reading the php manual, I did this:

<div id="fecha">
<?php echo date("\G\u\a\y\a\q\u\i\l\,\ F d \d\e\ Y"); ?>

</div>

but it shows the date in english = Guayaquil, May 30 de 2012

I want it in spanish, which file do I have to change, or the code is wrong?

i was searching a module for this, but didnt find it

I use Jsn epic template
Joomla 2.5.4

Hello Hector,

I just did some research and found some excellect tutorials on creating a spanish date function using php.

This was my favorite:
gpeasy.com/Special_Forum?show=t511

This gives you more flexibility but great code:
snipplr.com/view/3644/

And this has some neat info on that as well:

Warm Regards,
