Css causing div to move... 10 months 1 week ago #51207

After a hours and hours of trying to debug this...i finally got it to where the main content doesn't wrap under everything when the screen is resized...surprisingly though...it only works when at 1000px...i read somewhere that you have to have the min width as more than any of the divs and margins combined...i haven't done the math, but is this true? if so, Why?

one more thing is that although it works fine so far, the only time it wraps is when you have the screen shrunken and open the menu navigation..i have an overlay and the menu expands..which moves everything...its not as bad as before But I 'd still like to do it right...any suggestions?

Hi Carin,

Looks like you are trying to create a responsive design for your website. This is not a simple task. There are a couple of ways to go about it. You either need to know some advanced CSS or you can build different templates for different devices.

Are you starting with a template that is already responsive and trying to modify it? or are you trying to create this from scratch?

Cheers,
Ed

I already made it....that is my work...but when hovering over the menu and it expand, out pages everything down...that's what I'm truong to figure out...it only does it when the browser screen is shrunken.

That depends on how the template is coded and what the desired layout is :) But, yes, the width should not be less than all the elements' widths combined.

Could you record a videocast of what you're seeing so that we can understand the issue that you're having better? I'd recommend using www.screenr.com/ for it.

Looking forward to your reply.

Kind regards,
Nick
