Disabling Legacy Mode crashes Joomla site - restricted access

Disabling Legacy Mode crashes site

I initially enabled Legacy Mode to install an extension, but I do not need it on anymore so I disabled it and when I did my site crashed.

When this happened I only saw a white screen and text that said "restricted access". Any reasons on why this would happen?

And is my site safe to continue running in Legacy Mode?
