Site Search Doesnt Work With Template Hello,

This is my first site using Joomla and so far I have gotten through most of the pitfalls but this one has me stumped. The template I am using is the Iridium template from Rocket Theme but I have had to modify it to get a solid black background into the modules as my client was very specific about this design. My problem arises that when I add the search component onto the site it returns the search results on a template that has the same format, hence, black type on a black background = unreadable.

The search box is now currently just below the magazine cover on the left if you would like to see what I mean.
Any suggestions would be very helpful!
