My website, www.unitedwaypeel.org, is currently running on Joonla version 1.5.23. I have a dummy site that I can use to transition to version 1.6 or 1.7. I'm just wondering if that is recommended? I am planning on changing the template completely. The only thing that will really remain the same is the way the content is organized.

When 1.6 came out it wasn't recommended to do the upgrade. Is that still the case - is 1.7 stable? Or did I totally misunderstand everything I read many months ago?
