| Going Live Jitters - Moving Site to Joomla Root Directory |
|
I've reviewed your article, How to Move Site from a Local to Live Server. I'm ready to publish but don't want to create a problem with the existing site. My plan to eventually delete all the old files once I know the Joomla site is functioning properly. Just to be EXTRA safe, I thought I would create a new folder in FTP to upload Joomla for testing. Then once things look OK, move Joomla to server's root directory. If I do this, (following the steps in your article), do I need to anything to correct after move? Or, (this is a dumb question) can I redirect URL path from existing site's URL [www.mysite.com] to new folder [www.mysite.com/Joomla] leaving the old files as a backup at least temporarily until I'm confident Joomla will work? Does JoomlaPack duplicate the localhost's path, or can I designate a new path during install? I'm nervous! Hold my hand!!
