I recently launched a new version of my website and now some of the old links from my earlier version seen on Google show up as a 404 Not found page. I want to redirect all of them to the Home Page.

I have tried adding the following code to the htaccess.txt file:

ErrorDocument 404 /index.php

I tried this in my template folder, the template/system folder, and even the root folder but with no success.

I also followed another forum that suggested I change the error.php file after making the url's SEF. This worked in that with my new site if the link is incorrect it will redirect from my home page, but when there is a link from Google I get the 404 error. Very frustrating!! Your help would be appreciated.
