Our website is known to just a handful of people to whom we've given a provisional ID & PW. Yet, I find that a particular banner ad shows 17 "hits" and over a thousand "impressions".

Doesn't "17 hits" mean that the banner was clicked and the page it links to was accessed 17 times? Although this seems a lot, I can believe it, but not the thousands of "impressions".

Just what is meant by impressions? And I assume both these statistics just tally actions by outside users, not by the site's administrators or authors. Is that right? I have Google Analytics installed, but still don't know how to use it, so these figures came from Joomla's backend.
