Steve,

Are you aware of any tool that would let you check a site automagically against various browsers/releases? More than once I have had a site look great in Firefox and IE8, but not in IE7 or Safari.

Also, do you recommend trying to make a site work in IE 6? I have more people than I would have anticipated still running that version.
