How can I add categories to the front end and/or backend, in addition to the default ones that Joomla brings? Instead of adding new categories, is it possible to break down the existing ones into sub-categories?

Example, let's say I want to break down my registered users by profession, age group or some other parameter, can I do that?

The purpose is to give each registered user access to information that is specifically targeted to their special interests, and thus achieve greater interest and engagement.
