i am total beginner with Joomal and my major problem is the template. I am using the free Template

to developpe a wesite i saw on a youtube video that we need Firezilla,Firebug and Nopad++ as tools
for Webdesigner and with this tools i can cutomize tamplate. I have already installes them on my Laptop.My first question is : do i a need other tools like the one mentioned in the step 2 of the tutorial HOW TO CHANGE LOGO?

For editing my template i need the following help:

1. how to make a dropdown submenus like the ones in the Demo?I add submenus, but i can not see them
2. Want to add images slideshow is it possible to have joomla extension to use on the place of their JSN IMAGESHOW Which offer me much more possibilities than the free one they offer?
3. How to add the image to the slideshow?
4. is it possible to add a youtube video in the User9 position, just on the right of the IMAGESHOW ?
5. How to change logo?
