Thought I should start a new post as I have many questions and do not completely understand how I need to proceed to install joomla! so I will be operating in development mode and not visible to the public until our development is complete. I thought all I needed to do was choose "set site to offline" in global settings to keep out public during development, but I see a number of posts from other joomla!-ers regarding "test" sites going "live", etc. I read from this tutorial that you posted on another thread that files for running "test" site need to be stored in a different location in order to keep them [and development site] from public view. Will I be given all of this information during "one-click" installation, or do I have to know ahead of time what these files are and where I need to put them? Could you explain for me the difference between "test" site and "public" site as far as:

Where files need to be stored

How you access each type of site

If you have any other information that I might need to know regarding this set up I would appreciate it. I will attempt my joomla install as soon as my old host directs my domain to my new host which should be in a day or two [fingers crossed]
