This is a really dumb question, but how do I find out the width (in pixels) of the monitor screen that I'm using?

I'm trying to figure out the best width to use for my site.

Currently, the site is 100% fluid so if the screen size is small, then the pictures & logo text will over lap and it's ugly. But I want to have the most amount of space to work with, what are your thoughts on this. It seems like I can't have both.
