Joomla Dev to Live Server Migration

Ok, so I have read the tutorials and have questions.

If I am moving the files from one dev folder to another live one on the same sever, do I need to re-upload everything through FTP?

I tried installing Kickstart and am getting an error message about no XML set up file. What's the fix for this?

Once I transfer the files, will it screw up my login info as the admin if I haven't changed the site config paths?

Do I need to go into the php files to change the config paths or can I do it from the Contol Panel?

Someone, please tell me this how to do this so it isn't going to be a giant mess.
